In the book of Romans, there is a prophetic scripture from the Lord that clearly states,
“More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” ROMANS 5:3-5."
As this pertains to any individual's’ life who has endured through man trials and tribulations in their life, there is one out there you used his sufferings as more so, a God-given gift than a liability; and what you might ask was this individuals’ vessel to what he calls a God-given gift, how about being the only recognized male blind rapper in the underground Hip-Hop world!

Some of his closest peers know by the name of Stephen Norris, but the rest of the Hip-Hop world recognizes him as Blind Fury, his stage name he has donned since his journey to the MC rise since 2010 on BET’s 106 & Park for Freestyle Fridays. Many consider Blind Fury to what some quote as, the “Stevie Wonder” of the underground Hip-Hop world.

Blind Fury’s story is a testament of sheer willpower and going to many lengths to search for that burning fire inside when everything and everyone around you does what it can to put that fire out!

Born Stephen Norris on October 10, 1984 in Camden, South Carolina, Blind Fury not only was born from the womb visually impaired, he was diagnosed with Spina Bifida, a spinal defect that affects movement in the nervous system and the spinal cord. In addition, Norris was born without eyeballs or any optic nerves, ultimately eliminating all chances of having any transplants for the rest of his life.

Even with so many ailments Norris had suffered growing up, his single mother was the one person who instilled all her hope, faith and courage to give her only son the best care the city of Camden had to offer. Finally Mama Norris’ prayers were answered when a good-Samaritan Dr. Thomas Joseph had Stephen at only two months old to undergo surgery for his spine at a local Camden hospital.
The official MTV fan page for Blind Fury stated a quote that, “Every day Monday thru Friday for the first 6 months of Stephen’s life, he was either at a hospital for tests, or a doctor’s office.”
After extensive surgery and intensive therapy over the next years, Stephen’s mother made a decision that it was time to enroll her son through school and not shelter him front the rest of the world; she decided it was time for Stephen to become more independent and meet children his age. At the age of 3, Stephen enrolled in kindergarten. Stephen attended public school in Camden, graduating in May 2003.

Road to Success: Love for Music and Hip-Hop

There were two things young Norris has always possessed as he grew up that helped in excel and beat the odds from his medical conditions: his mother, and his love for music. Before venturing out at the age of 19 to the Bronx, New York to begin his early career as an MC, Norris began at a very young age mastering his passion and love for music by applying his skills into singing at age five; even learning how to play the keyboard at age four.

As Hip Hop grew so did Stephen “Blind Fury” Norris. At age nine his singing transformed into creating rhymes in his head on a daily basis. His talents began to shine and the people of South Carolina started to get a taste of what was to come. He began to be called gifted because of his immense talents.

Fury decided to showcase his talents on stage for the first time at a local club in South Carolina when he was discovered by DJ Mellow (Travis Jiles). Mellow contacted his friends DJ Spice (Harold Griffin) & Darell Jones about his discovery of an amazing talent. The friends formed the management company 3 WiseMen Entertainment with one mission on their minds:
Blind Fury siding the music world! .
Fury began to perfect his skills in the studio laying down tracks that showcased his singing as well as his mic skills. Then came the MC battles, Fury has slayed emcees up and down the east coast from Atlanta’s Club 112 to NYC’s Fight club. Word quickly started to spread through the streets of NYC that there was an MC who couldn’t see but he could definitely hear the music and the crowd as he destroyed anyone who stepped to him.

Blind Fury is best known on the national scene for his 2003 appearance on the live Rocafella MC battle on MTV & his run as the Freestyle Friday Champ on B.E.T's 106&Park from Dec.2010 to April 2011.
