Schmidt (R-Grand Rapids) are facing a Grand
Jury investigation into the "perpetrated election
fraud" scandal.
On Tuesday, August 28th, a Ingham County grand jury was allocated to launch a criminal investigation of evidence in Michigan Speaker of the House Jase Bolger (R-Marshall) and State Representative Roy Schmidt "perpetrated election fraud" scandal.

A Circuit Court in Ingham County, which the city of Lansing, Michigan is located, authorized the Grand Jury review.

State Senate Minority Leader Gretchen Whitmer (D-Lansing), released this statement via her Facebook page about the upcoming investigation.
"It was announced today that the Ingham County Circuit Court has voted to empanel the one-person grand jury to further investigate the election fraud case surrounding Speaker of the House Jase Bolger and State Representative Roy Schmidt," State Senator Whitmer wrote.

"While it's a sad day in our state's history that this step would have to be taken, I am thankful that the court's decision will result in a full, fair and impartial investigation into this matter. That's all I've ever asked for and it's what the public deserves."
In late July, Kent County Prosecutor William Forsyth (R) released his findings in the investigation of Speaker of the House Jase Bolger and State Representative Roy Schmidt election rigging scheme which occurred during May 2012. The findings concluded Representative Roy Schmidt decided to switch parties from Democrat to Republican prior to the May 15th candidate filing deadline.

Prosecutor Forsyth investigation report cited that Rep. Schmidt conspired with Speaker Bolger to find a 'straw man' to run as a fake democrat against Schmidt, attempting to guarantee Schmidt would win the election and retain his seat, as a Republican.

Matt Mojzak, a 22 year old retail clerk, was offered $450 to file as a Democrat by Representatives Schmidt and Speaker Bolger. Mojzak, who did not reside in Schmidt's district told a falsehood in his Affidavit of Identity, verifying he resided in Schmidt's home district.

Phil Browne, a top staffer to Speaker Bolger delivered the papers needed to file, to the Kent County clerk. Mojzak then withdrew his 'candidacy' when Michigan media resources found he did not actually live in the district.

Despite the known case facts, Kent County Prosecutor William Forsyth declined pursuing further criminal charges and/or referring the case to a Grand Jury. It was revealed in late August, Forsyth called off a separate impartial investigation that the Michigan State Police were conducting into this matter.

Video obtained by Gongwer News Service under a FOIA request of the State Police Investigation shows Matt Mojzak (wearing a red shirt) entering a department branch office in Kent County to change the address on his voter registration and official address.

As Mojzak starts to leave, state Rep. Roy Schmidt (wearing a white shirt) approaches Mojzak. Mojzak, a friend of Schmidt's nephew and son, had agreed to run in the 76th State House District as a Democrat after Schmidt switched from the Democratic to Republican Party minutes before the deadline to file for office.
