Gabrielle Douglas becomes the first African-American
Woman to win Individual All-Round Gold in Olympic
At 5'9 I was too darn tall to think about being a Gymnast. Either way, I have always loved watching the sport. Similar to my other secret (now not so much) love of the Olympics games figure skating I sit, turn on the TV and hope to live to see history made, someday.
Saying I was too proud of Dominique Dawes would be a understatement. Competing in 3 separate Olympics, Ms. Dawes victories set the stage for the future athletes in this sports and, has made history.
And, that future is with Gabrielle "Gabby" Douglas, who carrying a big smile and grounded faith in God, has became the first African-American Woman to win Gold in a Olympic Gymnastics Individual All-Around, ever. Ms. Douglas also strongly assisted Gymnastics #TeamUSA made up of Jordyn Wieber, McKayla Maroney, Kyla Ross and Alexandra Raisman by completing in all four individual events.
Coming back two days later to complete and win Gold, well that's priceless!
Congratulations Gabby. You have made history, and broken down one more barrier in FIERCE fashion!!!
