Michigan's GOP controlled House scheduled to vote on series of Super Anti-Abortion measures

The Michigan Republican controlled legislator on June 7, 2012 drove a House committee House Bills 5711, 5712, 5713 which together has been labeled as a package, "Michigan's Super Anti-Abortion Bills".

In total, the three measures seeks to limit woman's access to family planning health care of choice by cutting off paths to Planned Parenthood Centers by criminalize all abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, without exceptions for rape victims, the health of the woman or in cases where there is a severe fetal anomaly.

The legislation specifically mandate require health centers that provide abortions to have surgery rooms, even if they do not provide surgical abortions. In addition, the measure would require doctors to be present for medication abortions, along with screening women for "coercion" before providing an abortion, and creating new regulations for the disposal of fetal remains.



A June 8th, Huffington Post article details the following regarding House Bills 5711, 5712, 5713:
A massive, 60-page omnibus bill that drastically limits abortion access and could shut down all abortion clinics in the state is being rushed through the Michigan State House of Representatives on Thursday. 
The bill was introduced just last week, but lawmakers held a hearing for it on Thursday morning and are sending it to a full House vote on Thursday afternoon. 
A spokesperson for Planned Parenthood Mid and South Michigan said about 90 people showed up at the Health Policy Committee hearing to testify against the bill, but Committee Chair Gail Haines (R-Waterford) abruptly ended the hearing and cut off all testimony after a Michigan Right to Life spokesperson and only a few others were able to speak.

Prior to the hearing on House Bills 5711, 5712, 5713 was abruptly adjourned by Michigan's Republican led House Committee, a diminutive amount debate and opposition was briefly allowed.
