Rainbow Push
(DETROIT) – D. Alexander Bullock testified in front of the Michigan House of Representatives Redistricting and Elections Committee regarding voter suppression.
“This Republican legislature and Gov. Snyder have taken voter suppression to new heights. Michigan has joined the ranks of other states where voter ID laws have been introduced or enacted in an effort to disenfranchise the vote. These bills are not about voter fraud. They are about election engineering. Emergency managers nullify the vote. These laws suppress the vote. Michigan is ground zero for the disenfranchisement of students, the elderly, and the poor,” said D. Alexander Bullock
Voting laws passed by Republican-led legislatures in states during the past year have immensely halted voter registration drives. According to the Brennan Center for Justice up to 11 percent of legal voters could be kept from voting this election cycle.
