Southwest Michigan Hoodie March and Rally for Trayvon Martin

Benton Harbor, MI- On February 26, 2012, 17-year-old Trayvon Martin walked through a gated Stanford community when George Zimmerman, neighborhood watch captain shot him. 

Trayvon Martin was wearing a hoodie with a bag of skittles, and ice tea just recently purchased at a 7/11. The young teen was unarmed. 911 tapes released by Sanford police, Zimmerman tells the operator that Trayvon was suspicious and appeared to be drugged. Zimmerman then pursued Trayvon on foot and after a struggle shot and killed the teenager, according to police.

George Zimmerman has not been arrested and has “claimed” self-defense. Come out on April 6, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. and March in support of the Martin family and several other nameless victims of racial profiling and injustice.

The march will begin at 1st Congregational Church at 292 Bellview, Benton Harbor, MI 49022 
and City Center Park in Benton Harbor, Michigan and will end at the Downtown Center on Main St. where the rally will take place.  Please wear your hoodies in support for the justice of Trayvon Martin. Everyone that participates in encouraged to wear a hoodie in representation of Trayvon Martin. This is a peaceful march that will include speakers that will encourage strength and hope in the fight for justice.
