Referendum drive signatures submitted to overturn Michigan's Public Act #4

Michigan Bureau of Elections has verified 223,000 signatures for a possible Constitutional Referendum vote. The next step is on April 26, 2012 where the Michigan Board of Canvassers will CERTIFY if a election to ratify or remove Michigan Controversial Statue, Public Act #4.

was the only Exclusive Michigan blogging source in the state, present when registered voters signatures was turned in this afternoon to place a Constitutional Referendum  on the ballot to overturn Michigan controversial legistation Public Act #4, known as the Emergency Manager Law.



Over 300 supporters gathered at the Methodist Church in Lansing, Michigan for a pre-rally before walking to the Richard Austin Building, where the Michigan Bureau of Elections is located. Michigan Forward Chairman Brandon Jessup told the crowed that today's event represented months of work to take Democracy back in Michigan.

"This is what Democracy looks like," Jessup stated. We'll march these petitions to the Secretary of State Building beginning the states of overturning Public Act #4," Jessup told supporters.
Bureau of Elections spokesman Fred Woodhams, told ROJS News that office will secure the petitions and will take up to 60 days to verify signatures.
"Once the signatures are verified, the petitions will go before the State Board of Canvassers panel to verify if a referendum petition vote would be placed on the November 6th general election ballot," Woodhams stated.
Maureen Taylor from Michigan Welfare Rights spoke about her organizations' support which assisted in gathering over 226,000 signatures.
"Today is a good day. It's a joyful day but, the fight continues from here. We need to be vigilant this Secretary of State protects these petitions and uphold the democracy process in Michigan," Taylor said.
