Michigan Forward, Detroit Branch NAACP, AFSCME host 'Stop Detroit Takeover Rally'

Michigan Forward, the Detroit Branch NAACP and AFSCME Council 25 will host a rally today, Tuesday, December 6, 2011 beginning at 6:00 P.M. at Fellowship Chapel located at 7707 W. Outer Drive in Detroit.  

The rally is free and open to the public.  Petitions will be available for registered voters to sign and also pick up to circulate.  Scheduled to speak tonight are:

• Brandon Jessup, CEO of Michigan Forward and Stand Up for Democracy Chairman
• Rev. Dr. Wendell Anthony, President, Detroit Branch NAACP
• State Representative Shanelle Jackson
• Pontiac City Council Member Kermit Williams

The campaign to Repeal Public Act 4 needs approximately 162,000 signatures to freeze “The Local Government and School District Fiscal Accountability Act” and place it on the ballot for November 2012.  Over 157,000 signatures have been collected and verified.  The campaign goal is to collect 250,000 signatures to repeal PA4.
