A 2nd recall attempt was rejected

by the Washtenaw County Election
Commission on August 16th.
The Washtenaw County Election Comission on August 16th, rejected for the second time, rejected clarity review language, in a recall attempt against state Senate Rebekah Warren, D-Ann Arbor

The commission voted against the recll attempt on similar lines as a last at 2-1, deciding the language was unclear, with County Clerk Larry Kestenbaum casting the lone dissenting vote.
Two members of the commission opposing Ypsilanti Township resident and attorney David H. Raaflaub attempt to have clarity langauge approve,d were County Treasure Catherine McClary and Judge Donald Shelton.
Ypsilanti Township resident and Willow Run Tea Party activist Steven E. Wallis filed previous language seeking a recall of Warren in July.
Raaflaub and Wallis cited Warren vote against the "job killing Michigan Business Tax" as their reason for wanting her out of office.
State Senator Warren explained her decision oppositing the GOP-backed legislation that reformed the state's tax structure.
“The truth is the legislation in question did not eliminate the Michigan Business Tax, but rather shifted a tremendous tax burden onto Michigan’s working families and seniors, gutting the Michigan Earned Income Tax Credit, eliminating critical tax incentives for our homeless shelters and food banks, and implementing a three-tiered pension tax that many retirees are struggling to adjust to," Warren then said.
"Quite simply, this vote balanced the budget on the backs of our most vulnerable citizens in order to fund a $2 billion tax break for businesses," she cited.
In a second recall language approval vote, the commission unanimously rejected clarity language submitted against Washtenaw Community College Trustee Pamela Horiszny. The petition was filed by William Campbell of Ann Arbor, who lost in a general election to Horiszny in 2010.
