Congressional District in 2012.
U.S. Representative Hansen Clarke (D-MI) announced on The Craig Fahle show at Wayne State University based WDET-101.9 FM Thursday, August 25nd, that he run in Michigan’s newly redrawn 14th Congressional district, rather than the 13th district he currently represents.

Rep. Clarke is in his first term of representing the district where he lives. With redistricting maps drawn up and approved by Michigan’s Republican controlled House and Senate, the 13th district was redrawn into the new 14th district while much of U.S. Rep. John Conyers’ existing 14th district was swap into the new 13th district.

Members of Congress aren't required to live in the district they represent, which is different from Michigan Legislator district's residency rules were its required.

Rep. Clarke also announced his intent to move into the newly redrawn area. The 14th U.S. Congressional district will now run from Detroit’s east side, though the Grosse Pointes, snake through Oakland County and including Southfield with north Pontiac areas.

Rep. Clarke could face a primary challenger from the suburbs but would likely have the upper hand, as most of the district runs though areas of Oakland County that tend to vote Democratic. Parts of the redrawn 14th U.S. district is currently held by Rep. Gary Peters (D-MI) who will lose his seat in 2012 due to Michigan lost in population with the 2010 Census count.
