More than 30 vendors will assist Washtenaw County residents on how to obtain employment, foreclosure prevention, avoid eviction, pay overdue utility bills, and more at the Joe Dulin Community Day, which will take place from 11 AM to 2 PM Saturday, August 27th at the corner of West Michigan Avenue and Hamilton in downtown Ypsilanti. The event is free and open to the public.

"What we’re really trying to do is provide an opportunity for individuals that may need some type of assistance with a fair of a lot of the different county departments that provide human service programs, as well as a lot of our nonprofit partners in the community that do that," Denig said to Ann Arbor.com.

In attendance during the community day event will be the Washtenaw County office of Michigan Works!, a workforce development group that helps jobless residents apply for unemployment insurance, pursue job opportunities and pursue job retaining skills.

"The economy isn’t rebounding as quickly as possible so there still is a great need out there," said Denig, Director of Washtenaw's Michigan Works! office. "There are a lot of people in the community who have found themselves in a place they haven’t been before and they really don’t know who to reach out to."

Over 1000 people are expected to attend the event and a free meal will be provided to those who participate at the community day.
