Calls are increasing from Democratic
Congressional leadership, for Rep.
Anthony Weiner (D-NY) to resign
from office, after 'sexy-texts' scandal.
As more damaging information continues to emerge from Representative Anthony Weiner (D-NY)  scandal with engaging in questionable ‘sex-texts’ and sending explicit pictures over the internet; Democratic leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives began an orchestrated effort on June 8th to force the Congressman to resign.

The push started with Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who concluded that Weiner’s actions are becoming a problem for other Democrats, as they planned to retake the House in 2012. Next, the calls for Rep, Weiner’s resignation were made by head recruitment of Democratic candidates of the 2012 election cycle, Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D-PA).
“Having the respect of your constituents is fundamental for a member of Congress,” she said in a statement released by her office. “In light of Anthony Weiner’s offensive behavior online, he should resign.”
After Congresswoman Schwartz’s statement, a chorus of rank-and-file Democrats serving from areas across the country joined in. First, conservative-lending Rep. Mike Ross of (D-AK) lead the choir calls for Weiner to resign. Democratic Reps. Michael Michaud of (D-ME), Niki Tsongas (D-MA), Larry Kissell (D-NC) and Joe Donnelly (D-IN), quickly followed Congressman Ross call and subsequently agreed with Rep. Schwartz’s initial statement.
“I’m very disappointed in his actions,” Rep. Ross stated after a speech in his Arkansas district. “I think he should resign immediately and I think all the appropriate authorities should investigate this matter,” he cited.
More embarrassing details of Rep. Weiner’s actions materialized on Wednesday, June 8th, including a ‘leaked’ picture from Conservative operative Andrew Breithart of the Congressman genitals, Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY) who is chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee reported speaking to Weiner by phone. In the conversation, Israel firmly expressed frustration that Mr. Weiner’s political standing was deteriorating as details of his online relationships were evolving.

It’s widely believed that other prominent party leaders in the Democratic Party will step forward with a similar message, if Rep. Weiner continues refusing to resign. One such political power broker, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) bluntly told a reporter what advice he would give Weiner about his situation on Tuesday, June 8th, after Rep. Weiner's confession in a press conference on Monday.
“I wish there were some way I could defend him, but I can’t,” Reid stated. (For advice, Weiner would need to) call somebody else,” he replied.
