President Obama Chief Economic
Advisor Austan Goolsbee will
resign his position at the White House

Less than a week after calling the latest up-tick in unemployment numbers to 9.1% a 'mere bump in the road' to job growth in the struggling economy President Obama chief economic advisor, Austan Goolsbee has announced he will step down.
Goolsbee, chairman of Obama's Council of Economic Advisers, would depart in time to begin the upcoming academic year at the University Of Chicago where is a professor of economics in the graduate school of business, The White House cited via Reuters.

"He has helped steer our country out of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, and although there is still much work ahead, his insights and counsel have helped lead us toward an economy that is growing and creating millions of jobs," Obama said in a statement.

The news of Goolsbee's departing, will come as a long-overdue event to millions of 99ers -unemployed job seekers who are exhausted from all forms of federal jobless extensions. Especially since, the past year, Gooslbee being President Obama top advisor on economic issues, didn't mention or wholeheartedly support either of the 99ers extension bills, HR-589 in 2011 or S-3706 in 2010, be enacted for this group.

Goolsbee has noted on many occasions his 'heart goes out to' long-term unemployed job seekers, without suggesting and advising one program to federal program, to do so.
During a open interview in January 2011 with Jay Keller from Examiner.com, Gooslbee was asked a hard hitting question from a Mapleville, RI 99er, Liz Steer, writer Michael Thorton wrote Ms. Steer asked Goolsbee:

The majority of these people (the 99ers) were (are) middle age, formerly middleclass and are not eligible for any further benefits other than SNAP?

Are there any plans to add additional weeks of unemployment to keep the 99ers from becoming homeless while a solution is found to help them find a job?”

Mr. Goolsbee’s reaction to the question was one of muted surprise, as he seemed tongue-tied trying to explain the Obama unemployment extension spin before moving on to a clearer response about 99ers.
I don’t think there has been much sentiment in Congress to extend the benefit weeks past the 99 weeks,” Goolsbee replied.

Additionally, Mr. Gooslbee didn't offer any help to the 99ers On December 9th appearance MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Show.' While acknowledging that the '99ers' are in a 'very difficult spot' to receive long-term economic improvement in the current economy, to a question asked by Maddow, Gooslbee offered no ways in assisting the jobless group.

So, for the millions of 99ers across America, Austan Gooslbee will not be missed, after departing from the White House, one bit.
