General Motors investment in IT Operations Center in Warren, MI adding 25 jobs

General Motors will invest up to $130
million dollars in Warren, Michigan
to build new IT Operations Center,
bringing up to 25 jobs.

General Motors announcement on June 6th confirms that the manufacturer will make another investment to Michigan's economy, bring more jobs into the area. The automaker will invest $130 million dollars to build an enterprise data center Technical Center in Warren, Michigan.

The project will result in 25 new jobs in high technology and renovation expansion of an old administration building. The redesign which is underway in the building, will be completed in 2015.

GM's new Information Technology and Operations Command Center will consolidate the IT infrastructure of GM, reduce operating costs and cutting energy consumption by 40 percent. The center will serve as a focal point for monitoring digital programs of the manufacturer worldwide.
“This new facility and other GM data centers around the world support the tools the company needs to design, build and sell the world’s best vehicles through digital applications enabling all business functions,” said Terry Kline, GM vice president and chief information office to WXYZ Channel 7.
On April 22, Warren City Major James Fouts (D) supported the Warren City Council approving the tax credits to support investment in GM. The manufacturer has also received a state brownfield tax credit valued at $10 million dollars by the Michigan Economic Growth Authority board last month.
