(Ann Arbor, Michigan)-Michigan Citizens United, the grassroots organizers of the campaign to recall Michigan’s Governor Rick Snyder (R), were successful this morning in their efforts at a Clarity Hearing to define the petition language.

Initially scheduled at 11:30 PM on Friday, April 29th, the hearing time was changed to 9:00 AM, after a request from Governor’s Snyder’s legal council, who claimed they could not attend the original set time, according to a staffer from the Washtenaw County Clerk Office.

In a two-to-one split, The Washtenaw County Board of Election Commissioners voted to approve the language, clearing the way for Michigan Citizens United to begin collecting signatures as starting, Sunday, May 8th.

The group must collect 806,522 valid signatures to hold a recall election on the November 2011 ballot. Petitions can start being filed until July 1. Michigan Citizens United has began preparations for the mass effort to have their campaign be an success, by organizing "County Captains" to oversee the validity of signatures and to familiarize volunteers with the legalities surrounding a recall campaign.

The petition language says Governor Snyder should be recalled for supporting sweeping new powers for emergency financial managers, including throwing out labor agreements. It also cites his support for increasing taxes on retirees and low-income workers while substantially cutting business taxes.

This marks the third time in Michigan’s Executive Office history that a sitting Governor of the state has faced a recall petition. Reach Out Job Search Radio, which will start back its’ weekly podcast on Thursday, May 5th at 6:00 PM on the Blog Talk Radio network, will reserve  the entire two hour broadcast to cover the recall petition for Governor Rick Snyder.
