We at the "Reach Out Job Search" News Blog was taking the weekend off but, then Senator Bernie Sanders decided to engage in a stand-alone filibuster of his own, on President Obama's 'compromise deal' with Republican House and Senate leadership on December 10th.

Covered live on C-Span, Senator Sanders has engaged in a filibuster since 10:25 am. Sanders is presenting a strong position opposing the extension of the Bush Era tax cuts of 2001 and 2003on the principals of the long-term economic damage, it would do to the United States financial position.

It is estimated that if the negotiated tax cuts was to be passed by the Congress, the 'deal' would add at least $900 Trillion dollars to the $13.7 Trillion Federal deficit.

Within the 'deal' unemployed job seekers under 99 weeks would receive an extension of the dates filings for benefits claims, until January 2012. The 'compromise deal' does not include any additional support for the longest-term unemployed, the '99ers' who have been without any supplemental income payments, since April 2010.
