Within the New Year, a number of U.S. companies –including Michigan based corporations- are staffing up their recruitment efforts, advertising thousands of job openings in a variety of industries, ranging from retail, nursing, banking, accounting, consulting and more.

Other new job openings are within health care, telecommunications and defense-related industries, noted in The Wall Street Journal by Indeed Inc.

The company’s website cited that the number of U.S. job postings on the Internet rose to 4.7 million on December 1st, up from 2.7 million a year earlier.

‘As consumer confidence revives, the economy should continue a gradual recovery that encourages more companies to hire’, says Robert A. Dye, a senior economist at PNC Financial Services Group Inc. stated on M-Live.com. ‘There is still a lot of spare capacity in the economy, so "some companies, particularly auto makers, can continue to see increasing sales without hiring many more workers,’ he says.

In Michigan, a number of large corporations are advertising, with new employment opportunities, just in time for the New Year.

  • Consulting firm Deloitte is looking for "seasoned people who can provide advice to clients in such areas as mergers and acquisitions, health care and information technology." The company has more than 70 openings listed on Indeed.com from Detroit to Grand Rapids.
  • Navistar in Sterling Heights, Michigan, which currently has openings for engineers, analysts and a technical writer.
