Update @ 12:13 AM EST (last update of the night)

Hip-Hop and Record Producer Russell Simmons has wrote a blog post, in support of Keith Olbermann on the global Grind Website, with links to the rapidly growing Facebook Support Group - Keep Keith Olbermann on MSNBC.

If Keith Olbermann Goes, So Do WE!

"Keith Olbermann has given voice to the voiceless, sanity to the madness, truth where lies are now a daily part of our political discourse.  He felt passionately enough to contribute innocently as an private individual to three campaigns that he cared about," Simmons wrote.
If he goes we lose the Edward Murrow of our generation, the voice that spits truth to power and vested interests."

Here is a link to article on the Think Progress Website posted on November 5th.

“As many bloggers have noted, conservative MSNBC host Joe Scarborough has donated to Republican candidates for Congress while promoting the same candidate on air, but has never been disciplined. Moreover, Gawker notes that MSNBC has been exempt from the formal NBC ethics rules for years.

It is still a mystery why MSNBC selectively applied NBC’s ethics rules to Olbermann. However, it important to realize that MSNBC has undergone a fundamental change in leadership in the last two months.”

Please read and/or comment on the rest of the “Think Progress” article here.

In addition, on the Michael Moore website, it links to another article on the resource “Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting”. It states in just the following:

"A journalist donating money to a political candidate raises obvious conflict of interest questions; at a minimum, such contributions should be disclosed on air. But if supporting politicians with money is a threat to journalistic independence, what are the standards for Olbermann's bosses at NBC, and at NBC's parent company General Electric?

According to the Center for Responsive PoliticsGE made over $2 million in political contributions in the 2010 election cycle (most coming from the company's political action committee). The top recipient was Republican Senate candidate Rob Portman from Ohio. The company has also spent $32 million on lobbying this year, and contributed over $1 million to the successful "No on 24" campaign against a California ballot initiative aimed at eliminating tax loopholes for major corporations (New York Times11/1/10).

Comcast, the cable company currently looking to buy NBC, has dramatically increased its political giving, much of it to lawmakers who support the proposed merger (Bloomberg10/19/10). And while Fox News parentNews Corp's $1 million donation to the Republican Governors Association .
caused a stir, GE had "given $245,000 to the Democratic governors and $205,000 to the Republican governors since last year," reported theWashington Post (8/18/10)."

Please read the rest of the article at the “Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting” website.

On the Media Manners Blog, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has issued the following statement regarding the suspension of Keith Olbermann:

“It is outrageous that General Electric/MSNBC would suspend Keith Olbermann for exercising his constitutional rights to contribute to a candidate of his choice. This is a real threat to political discourse in America and will have a chilling impact on every commentator for MSNBC.

We live in a time when 90 percent of talk radio is dominated by right-wing extremists, when the Republican Party has its own cable network (Fox) and when progressive voices are few and far between," Senator Sanders wrote.
