No Happy 4th of July for the unemployed, stand alone extension bill fails 58-39

The nations' unemployed job seekers, will not receive an extension of unemployed benefits before the Senate's 4th of July recess. The American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act-HR 4213 was voted down for the fourth time in three weeks by a minority of Republican Senators 58-39, on June 30.

Only Olympia Snowe (R-ME) and Susan Collins (R-ME) crossed party lines to vote for the bill, in a effort to end the filibuster process, for an up or down vote. Senator Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) voted against the bill, in order to allow for another vote on it in the future. This action is required to re-authorize another vote on the measure, due to rules within the Senate.......
